Thailand 4.0 has an ultimate goal of increasing HDI and also moving the country to the Upper-Income Nation. However, one of the huge issues that Thailand is facing is a great shortage of skilled labor force. According to The Nation, 83.5 percent of the workforce of Thailand is unskilled; it is considered to be the lowest proportion in the Asean countries. Moreover, Thailand still does not have a proper data management tool to facilitate students and researchers in academia. Therefore, it can often be difficult for people in the research field to achieve the best results from resources they were provided. For these reasons, to minimize these chronic issues, I believe the use of online education technology and also an advanced data management platform may be the one of the best solutions in directly mitigating the problems and also introducing new technology that is proven to be successful in advanced countries to the deserving people in Thailand.
There are many aspects of education that Thailand can improve along with Thailand 4.0. In the U.S., there are many online education platforms to facilitate people who either do not have time to go for campus education or they live far away from the campus itself. These are also the cases in Thailand as well. Many people from the rural area do not have the opportunities to pursue higher education due to the lack of developed infrastructure, capital resources, and also lack of education technologies. To encounter with this problem efficiently, I think Thailand should develop an online education platforms/programs to provide people opportunities to attend higher education without having to commute. By investing in online education technology, we can develop online platform that is easy for student to use and learn from a far distance while giving them the chance to work at the same time. This technology will not only help increase skilled population, but it will also help facilitate people in medical professions, college students, and also people who constantly need to reaffirm their skills (due to their profession) without them having to travel. Shifting the labor force of teacher occupation to technology-based programs may be one of the ways to tackle the issue of lack of
skilled labor force and also increase the national income of the residents in the country.
Additionally, creating data management platform technology (IPUMPS in the U.S. can be one of the examples) by subsidizing research and development can facilitate and encourage researchers and students to invest more in academia researches. It is proven that research and development is one of the most essential factors in increasing the economic growth within a country. R&D creates new job markets, expands investments in some area, and it also improves quality of lives for the people in the nation. Therefore, providing tools to make researches less challenging, reachable, and simple may help country’s human’s development and also economic development as well.
To move Thailand to high-income nation is not easy, but it is possible. One of the keys factors that we should consider is to promote better quality of higher education. Establishing online learning platforms technology will give disadvantaged people opportunities to pursue higher education while also increase the number of skilled work force in Thailand. Then, creating a data management technology will also help simplify the tasks of researchers, which can help fasten the development of both social and economic in Thailand. Lastly, an efficient public spending can be a perfect solution in tackling the chronic issues within the nation and also enhancing capital management’s quality within the country. This can potentially improve the country’s growth and development for the purpose of making Thailand a better nation for the next generation to live in.
